As a Director General of this office, I feel proud to present the first ever published achievement report since its inception. It was indeed a significant task to be accomplished for putting together in a shape of a report, which has been made possible with the team work.

The aim of the Directorate is to transform secondary urban areas into creative, eco friendly and sustainable cities through effective urban and regional plans and policies therefore we are working continuously to achieve greater positive social and economic impacts from urbanization point of view. This report portrays sincere efforts undertaken by the team for completing all the assigned and ongoing tasks successfully.

One of the major assignments undertaken includes the preparation of Development Master Plans for 17 towns / secondary cities of Sindh including SDG compliant Taluka Islmakot, District Mithi.  These master plans identify the potential growth corridors and nodes around which priority for investments and development may be build upon. This approach enables the Sindh Province to move in a unified direction, building on comparative advantage and enhance competitiveness. Beside this, implementation of Poverty Reduction Strategy is of another major assignment which is being undertaken successfully.

During the entire tenure, Directorate has also been actively engaged in coordinating and liaison with the Academia, eminent Architects and Planners, Donor Agencies such as World Bank, Asian Development Bank, European Union and UNDP.
